William Batine James, born at Pencnwc Farm in Dinas Cross in 1849, was the only Welshman to serve, and die, with Lt-Col Custer at the Battle of Little Bighorn in Montana in 1876.

Mike Lewis is author of If God will spare my life..., a novel based on the story of William James. He will tell us about William, about the war against the Sioux and Cheyenne, and about Mike’s own transatlantic detective hunt for traces of William’s progress to a tragic end.
