Comprehensive tour of the Forest Garden with Bruce 2-4pm
A one day course learning how to graft apple trees using the whip and tongue method. The workshop will be split into two. The morning will look at the theory of grafting using power point to illustrate the methods of joining the scion (cultivar) to the rootstock. We will look at the rootstock possibilities and the kind of equipment we need. In the afternoon we will be hands on learning how to use the grafting knife to make clean and accurate cuts towards creating successful unions.
We aim for each participant to leave with two grafted trees. All skills levels welcome. Two rootstocks are included in the price.
Facilities: large workshop if shelter is needed, compost loo.
Hot drinks and biscuits supplied. Please bring packed lunch.
Fee includes tuition, rootstock scions [2 trees to go home with], use of appropriate tools and guided tour of forest garden.
